A new library system. Here is what it means for you

24 Aug 2026

Since 19 August 2026, MU Libraries, our Central Library among them, have been running on the new Alma/Primo platform.
You now search for print books and electronic information resources in one place through the Primo discovery service.

In the week of 24 August, katalog.muni.cz and discovery.muni.cz will start redirecting to it automatically, so the links you already use will keep working.

What it means for you

If you are already registered with us, you do not need to do anything. Your library account and current loans were transferred to the new system automatically.

You log in as usual with your MU account, see an overview of your loans, and can place reservations and renewals.

What did not carry over

Only current loans were migrated. Your loan history, saved searches, book lists, and favourites did not come across.

Your old account does stay active for several more months, so if you want to keep anything from it, you still have time to move it over manually.

Account in IS MU

You can now handle registration and account management right in the MU Information System.

In the application you can check your obligations (loans and any fines), set your home library, manage the personal data passed to the library system, and cancel your registration if you need to.

Personal data processing

The new system runs in a cloud environment, which has changed the way we process personal data. You will find the details in our personal data protection document.

If you do not wish your data to be processed, you can manage what is shared or cancel your registration in the IS MU application above.

The system is still being fine-tuned

The platform has only just gone live, so we will be working on it, adjusting it, and improving it for a while yet.

If something does not run perfectly smoothly now and then, please bear with us.

Guides are on the way

We are still preparing manuals tailored to our own setup and will publish them gradually.

Until then, the English video guides for Primo on LibGuides will help.
