APC tokens and discounts at publishers | 2026

Authors of Masaryk University have the opportunity to use tokens and discounts for publishing in Open Access mode with selected publishers. Discounts were negotiated through the National Centre for Electronic Information Resources (CzechELib).

To allocate a token, you must first verify whether the journal is among the eligible titles to which a token can be applied (see the instructions for authors) and also meet the general conditions listed below. For publishers with an “unlimited” status, it is likewise necessary to follow the guidance provided in the instructions for authors.

General conditions for obtaining a token

  • The research article will be published and submitted to RIV under the affiliation of Masaryk University.
  • The corresponding author is from MU and lists MU as their affiliation.
  • STM fields: restricted to quartiles Q1–Q2 according to WoS (if the journal is not assigned a quartile in WoS, Scopus quartiles are used), evaluated using Article Influence Score / Scimago Journal Rank.
  • HSS fields: restricted to quartiles Q1–Q3 according to WoS (if the journal is not assigned a quartile in WoS, Scopus quartiles are used), evaluated using Article Influence Score / Scimago Journal Rank.
  • Exception for the publisher Taylor and Francis for both HSS and STM fields: Tokens may only be allocated to articles in journals ranked in quartiles Q1–Q2 in WoS, evaluated using the Article Influence Score. If the journal is not indexed in WoS, Scopus quartiles Q1–Q2 are considered
  • The article does not have secured APC funding from another source, such as a grant or your department’s budget.

 

  • Tokens are allocated on a “first come, first served” basis.
  • A token is allocated after the article has been accepted by the publisher.
  • Dashboard administrators for contracted publishers are employees of the Open Science Division of the Institute of Computer Science at MU
